Overview

Spesial Soto Boyolali (SSb) Hj. Hesti on Jl. Teuku Umar, Bali, offers a genuine taste of Javanese culinary heritage right in Denpasar. Specializing in Soto Boyolali, a clear, fragrant, and subtly spiced chicken broth, this spot captures the essence of traditional Indonesian comfort food with a refreshing, soupy profile that invites you to slow down and savor every bite.

The menu centers around Soto Boyolali served in two portion sizes, perfect for adults and children alike, though those sensitive to spice may want to test the waters first due to a mildly peppery heat infused into the soup. Complementing the Soto are an appealing variety of traditional side dishes, especially their assortment of fried delights and skewered satays. Favorites such as sosis solo goreng, sate paru, and sate kikil amplify the experience, offering a textural and flavor contrast that enhances the meal’s overall satisfaction.

Situated away from the main road, SSb Hj. Hesti provides a spacious and clean environment with both air-conditioned and regular seating options. The establishment reflects a thoughtful design that serves its diverse clientele well; from families enjoying modest kids’ portions to solo diners opting for smaller bowls paired with several side dishes. Accessibility is enhanced by a large parking area and dedicated spaces for prayer, including a musholla, supporting the needs of Muslim patrons and fostering a welcoming community atmosphere.

While the dining area maintains a non-smoking policy, outdoor parking accommodates those who smoke, ensuring a comfortable setting for all guests. Drinks here are straightforward, providing basic refreshment that complements the food without overpowering it.

In sum, Spesial Soto Boyolali (SSb) Hj. Hesti stands as a reliable destination for those craving authentic Javanese soup dishes in Bali, combining rich traditional flavors, a well-curated side menu, and practical amenities that enhance the overall dining experience.

The soto has 2 portions (small & big). The small bowl is really small for kids portions and the big bowl is standard/normal portion for adult. So no worries if you order a big portion it won't hurt you at all For kids who are so sensitive to chili/paper, I think the soup a bit spicy (paper taste). If this is your first time visiting, better you try first before ordering your children. And my another favorite section in SSB is their fried food & satay. My fav are sosis solo goreng, sosis solo basah, sate paru, sate otak, sate kikil, and sate cingur. Must try this 6 items if you go there. You won't regret, trust me! For the drink, just normal and standard taste. So far i know, special in this SSB branch is not allowed to smoke inside the area, you can smoking at the parking lot only.

This is my first time trying Soto Boyolali.. I can say that I will come again to this place if o’m craving for something soupy The portion is adequate for me. For the taste.. It’s good.. It’s Halal as well The place is quite clean.. They have two types of toilet as you can see from the pictures. And for the muslim customers, There’s Musholla for praying. The Parking area is big and the resto is not too close to the main road though it’s a bit noisy from vehicles noises.

Our neighbor recommended this place so we decided to try for dinner. Tried the Soto Bening with a rice on the side, a bit small but overall tasty. The assortment of gorengan (deep fried) in the middle are also good as side dish, you just pick whatever you want and they will charge you on the table.

The best javanese style soto in Bali. I always order the small bowl so I can eat a lot of side dishes. The only disappointing part is the don’t have smoking area.

This is one of my favorite soto in Bali. I tasted both beef and chicken soto. I recommend you to try the beef one as the chicken soto is too fishy for me. While the prices in general are cheap, you'll spend quite a a lot as they serve many snacks on your table. Most of them tasted good too. I wish they could've add more meat in the soto as it was only few thin slices. I'm be willing to pay more. I also wish the staff would always put a lid or something for the snacks as most were left in the open when i was there.
